A recent study conducted by the Consumer Protection Service of Cyprus has highlighted potential savings for shoppers at local supermarkets, with consumers able to save up to €66.91, or nearly 36% of their total grocery costs, by selecting lower-priced alternatives for similar items. The findings, which were released on July 20, 2026, indicate significant price variations within the same product category at a single supermarket.
The research involved a price survey of 60 essential household products and emphasized that consumers do not need to change the contents of their shopping basket to achieve these savings. By opting for more economical options available within the same store, shoppers can greatly reduce their expenditures during grocery shopping trips. The results aim to encourage consumers to be more mindful of their purchasing choices in order to optimize their spending.
